2024/08/19: Stars

The closest star to us is 8 light-minutes away. The next, 4.2465 lightyears away being Proxima Centauri. Feels like a bit of a misnomer given that information traveling at ~3e8 m/s takes over four years to get here. Not really that proximal. It is such a shame that I enjoy the city so greatly, I wish I had easier access to the stars. It is so wondrous to look up at night and see truly how expansive our universe is. I cannot even begin to quantify the distance to the next-nearest star (~12.7395e8 m) let alone the breadth of the ever-expanding universe itself. It makes me feel so incredibly small yet so incredibly significant.
